Black & White Modern Architectural Photography

Modern architecture gives me the opportunity to look at buildings in a much more abstract way. Glass, steel and concrete can become patterns of line, shape and reflection, while changing perspective can turn a familiar structure into something almost entirely geometric.

I am particularly drawn to looking upwards and isolating sections of buildings rather than always showing them in their entirety. In black and white, grids, curves and repeating forms become more pronounced, and strong light can transform reflective façades into dramatic contrasts of highlight and shadow.

This collection brings together contemporary architecture from London, Seville and elsewhere, from the soaring vertical lines of 22 Bishopsgate and 20 Fenchurch Street to the elliptical form of Torre Triana and the engineered structures of the Thames Barrier. The buildings are very different, but what interests me is the same: form, scale and the possibilities created by perspective.
