COASTS

Water has always been one of the subjects I return to most often. I am drawn to the meeting point between land, water and sky, partly because it is never quite the same twice. Tides, weather and changing light can completely transform a familiar place, sometimes within a matter of minutes.

Living on the Dorset coast has brought that fascination much closer to home. The Jurassic Coast, from the cliffs and paths around Swanage to places such as Durdle Door, gives me the opportunity to return repeatedly rather than simply photograph a landscape once. I have become increasingly interested in quieter moments as much as dramatic ones: early light, long exposures, mist, empty water and the shapes left behind when movement is reduced to something almost still.

This collection also follows that fascination further afield, from the Mediterranean light of the Amalfi Coast and Collioure to the Venetian Lagoon and the expansive waters of Kyiv and Rutland. Different places, but all connected for me by water, light and atmosphere
