Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 9th September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to the use of www.johnwrightfineart.com and to purchases made through the website.
The website and online shop are operated by John Wright, trading as John Wright Fine Art, referred to in these terms as “John Wright Fine Art”, “we”, “us” or “our”.
Business address: 169 High Street, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 2NE
Email: johnfrwright@me.com
Please read these terms carefully before using the website or placing an order. By placing an order, you confirm that you accept these terms.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. About John Wright Fine Art
John Wright Fine Art sells signed and numbered limited-edition fine art photography prints.
Prints are produced to order by a specialist professional laboratory. Production, mounting, framing and dispatch may therefore be carried out by a carefully selected fulfilment partner on our behalf.
2. Using this website
You may use this website for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes.
You must not:
misuse or attempt to interfere with the website
introduce viruses, malicious code or other harmful material
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its supporting systems
copy, reproduce or commercially exploit website content without permission
use photographs or other content in a way that infringes intellectual property rights
We may suspend or restrict access to the website where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security or the protection of our rights.
3. Product information
We take reasonable care to describe and display each artwork accurately. Product pages provide details of the image, dimensions, edition size, print material, mounting, framing and presentation.
Images displayed on screens are for illustration. Colour, brightness and tonal appearance can vary between monitors and devices. The appearance of the physical print may therefore differ slightly from its on-screen representation.
Natural materials, including wooden frames, may display minor variations in colour, grain and texture. Small differences resulting from the production process do not normally constitute defects.
Dimensions are approximate and may be subject to small manufacturing tolerances.
4. Limited editions
Each limited-edition print is produced within the edition size stated on its product page.
Unless otherwise stated, editions are limited separately according to print size. Each print is supplied with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate may be delivered separately from the artwork.
The purchase of a print does not transfer copyright or any reproduction rights in the photograph.
Once every print within a stated edition has been sold, no further prints will be produced in that edition and size. Artist’s proofs or other proofs will only be produced where this is expressly stated.
Although we take reasonable steps to maintain accurate availability information, an edition may occasionally sell out before the website has been updated. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will notify you and provide a full refund.
5. Prices
All prices are displayed in pounds sterling unless otherwise stated.
The price shown when you place your order is the price you will pay, together with any separately stated delivery charge.
John Wright Fine Art is not currently registered for VAT and no VAT is charged.
Customers ordering from outside the United Kingdom may be responsible for import duties, taxes, customs charges or local handling fees. These charges are not controlled by John Wright Fine Art and are the customer’s responsibility.
6. Placing an order
When you place an order, you are offering to purchase the selected product under these terms.
After placing the order, you should receive an electronic acknowledgement. This confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that it has been accepted.
A contract is formed when we confirm acceptance of the order or begin production, whichever happens first.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where:
the product is unavailable
an edition has sold out
payment cannot be authorised
the price or product information contains an obvious error
we cannot deliver to the supplied address
we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity
If payment has already been taken for an order we cannot accept, it will be refunded.
7. Payment
Payment is taken securely through the payment services made available on the website. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card details.
You confirm that you are authorised to use the selected payment method and that the billing information supplied is accurate.
8. Production and delivery
Each print is produced to order. Estimated production and delivery times are provided on the website or during checkout.
Current typical delivery estimates are:
United Kingdom and European Union: approximately 8 to 9 working days
United States and other international destinations: approximately 14 working days
These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates. Delivery may occasionally take longer because of production requirements, customs processing, courier delays or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
You are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address. Additional costs caused by an incorrect or incomplete address may be charged to you.
Responsibility for the artwork passes to you when it has been delivered to you, or to a person identified by you to receive it.
Further information is available in our Shipping & Returns Policy.
9. Checking your delivery
Please examine the packaging and artwork as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If the artwork arrives damaged, defective or incorrect, contact us promptly at johnfrwright@me.com Where possible, include:
your name and order number
a description of the problem
photographs of the artwork
photographs of the outer and inner packaging
a photograph of the shipping label
Please retain all packaging while the matter is investigated. Asking for prompt notification does not affect your statutory rights.
Where an item is confirmed as damaged, defective or incorrect, we will arrange an appropriate replacement, repair or refund and cover reasonable return costs where applicable.
10. Your right to cancel
If you are a UK consumer purchasing online, you will normally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the artwork, without giving a reason.
To exercise this right, you must clearly tell us that you wish to cancel. You can do this by emailing johnfrwright@me.com and providing your name, order number and details of the artwork.
You then have a further 14 days to return the artwork after notifying us of the cancellation.
Producing a print after an order has been placed does not, by itself, remove your statutory cancellation rights. However, the right to cancel may not apply to artwork created or altered to your particular specification, such as genuinely personalised or custom-made work beyond the standard options offered on the website. We will identify any such product clearly before you place the order.
11. Returning an artwork
Unless the artwork is faulty, damaged or incorrect, you are responsible for the cost of returning it.
The artwork should be returned in its original packaging where reasonably possible and packed securely to prevent damage. We strongly recommend using an insured and trackable delivery service suitable for valuable artwork.
You must take reasonable care of the artwork while it is in your possession. We may reduce a refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what would reasonably be permitted when examining the product.
Do not return an artwork without first contacting us. We will provide the appropriate return instructions and address.
Further details appear in our Shipping & Returns Policy.
12. Refunds
Where you exercise a valid cancellation right, we will refund:
the price paid for the artwork
the standard outbound delivery charge, where legally required
Additional delivery costs resulting from your choice of an enhanced or expedited delivery service are not refundable beyond the cost of standard delivery.
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method, normally within 14 days of receiving the returned artwork or receiving satisfactory evidence that it has been sent back, whichever occurs first.
Different arrangements may apply where an artwork is faulty, damaged, incorrectly described or not fit for purpose. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
13. Changes and cancellations requested after ordering
Because production may begin shortly after an order is accepted, please contact us immediately if you wish to change or cancel an order.
We will try to accommodate requested changes, but we cannot guarantee that a change will be possible once production has begun. This does not limit any statutory cancellation right that applies to your purchase.
14. Copyright and intellectual property
All photographs, artwork, text, designs, logos and other original content on this website are owned by or licensed to John Wright Fine Art and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Purchasing a print gives you ownership of that physical print only. It does not give you permission to:
reproduce or copy the image
create derivative works
use the image commercially
publish or distribute reproductions
create digital tokens or other digital reproductions
permit another person or organisation to do any of these things
No website image may be downloaded, reproduced, altered or used without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
15. Website links
This website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience and do not mean that we endorse or control those websites.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of third-party websites.
16. Website availability and accuracy
We try to keep the website available and its information accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that every item of content will always be complete, current or free from errors.
We may update, suspend or withdraw website content when reasonably necessary.
17. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for:
death or personal injury caused by negligence
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
breach of your statutory consumer rights
any other liability that cannot legally be excluded
We are not responsible for business losses where you purchase as a consumer, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or anticipated savings.
Nothing in these terms affects any legal remedy available to you.
18. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, transport disruption, industrial action, customs delays, natural disasters, supplier interruption or failures affecting communications and payment systems.
If such an event significantly delays your order, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to minimise the effect. Where the delay becomes substantial, you may have the right to cancel and receive a refund for products not supplied.
19. Personal information
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.
Please read the Privacy Policy to understand what information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with and the rights available to you.
20. Complaints
If you have a question or complaint about an order, please contact:
Email: johnfrwright@me.com
Postal address: 169 High Street, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 2NE
We will try to acknowledge your complaint promptly and resolve it fairly.
21. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms to reflect changes to the website, our products, our business practices or applicable law.
The terms applying to an order will normally be those published when the order was placed. The date of the latest revision appears at the top of this page.
22. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, you may retain mandatory consumer protections provided by the laws of your country of residence.
