TREES
Fine Art Photography of Trees & the LandscapeTrees are a subject I return to again and again, perhaps because no two ever seem quite the same. I am especially drawn to solitary trees, where the shape of the trunk and branches can give an otherwise open landscape its structure and character.
The seasons continually change the way I see them. In summer, a full canopy can become a study of shape, colour and light; in winter, when the leaves have gone, the underlying form of the tree is revealed and even familiar subjects can become stark and almost graphic. Weather and sky matter too, particularly when an isolated tree is set against sweeping cloud, mist or the last light of the day.
Sometimes the tree is the entire subject; at other times it becomes a small but essential part of the wider landscape. What continues to interest me is that sense of individuality, and the way a single tree can completely change the feeling of a place.
