Trukhaniv Island, Kyiv, Ukraine
On an early winter morning, a quiet stand of trees emerges from the mist along the water’s edge on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv. Soft light dissolves much of the detail, reducing the scene to delicate lines, muted tones and gentle reflections, with the river acting as both boundary and mirror.
What struck me most was the sense of stillness. Trukhaniv Island sits within the heart of a busy capital, yet in winter it can feel remarkably remote. The noise of the city seems to fall away, leaving only bare trees, cold water and the occasional fisherman along the riverbank.
The image is intentionally restrained. Subtle colour and low contrast create an almost ethereal atmosphere, allowing the eye to settle rather than search for drama. Misty Tranquility is about that unexpected pause within the city, a moment when nature seems to reclaim the landscape and time, briefly, feels suspended.
