What drew me to this passage in the Real Alcázar was the way the midday sun transformed the architecture. Light was cutting through the arches and falling across the tiled floor in a sequence of bright shapes, while the rest of the corridor disappeared into deep shadow.
I was less interested in photographing the passage as a record of the building than in the rhythm created by those alternating areas of light and darkness. The repeating arches seemed to pull the eye steadily inward, turning the historic architecture into something almost abstract.
Black and white felt like the natural way to express that. Without colour, attention shifts completely to shape, tone, texture and the extraordinary geometry of the light.
Sunlit Passage is about that moment when architecture and light become inseparable. A centuries-old corridor is briefly transformed into something graphic and contemporary, while still retaining the quiet sense of history that makes the Real Alcázar such a remarkable place.

The largest 100 × 133.3 cm edition is finished in a more substantial 20 mm Black Matt Hamburg frame with an 8 cm white border and aluminium rails, giving the piece the presence and authority of a statement artwork while maintaining a restrained, contemporary finish.
