OXFORD

Fine Art Photography of Oxford

Oxford is where I was born and grew up, so photographing it is inevitably different from photographing almost anywhere else. These are streets, buildings and places I have known since childhood, many of them passed countless times on the way to school or while simply moving around the city. Returning with a camera makes me look at them differently.

Oxford is extraordinarily beautiful, particularly when its warm stone catches the first or last light. I am drawn to the familiar landmarks, the Radcliffe Camera, All Souls, the Bodleian and the Sheldonian, but equally to quieter streets, reflections along the Cherwell and those moments when a place I have known all my life suddenly feels new again.

There is inevitably a little nostalgia in these photographs. For me, this collection is both a portrait of one of Britain’s most remarkable cities and a return to the place where my own story began.
